A powerhouse forward for the Saint Peter’s men’s basketball team was suspended on Friday.
KC Ndefo, sophomore, was suspended from the team for violating team rules, the associate director of athletics for communications said. A one-sentence news post published Friday afternoon said Ndefo is suspended “indefinitely.”
SPU is set to kick off the basketball season on Friday, Jan. 3 at Iona.
Ndefo finished his freshman season ranking third in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference -- and nationally -- in blocks per game, 19th in rebound average and 15th in defensive boards. For the Peacocks, he tied for best scoring average (7.8) with a total of 243 points and second for blocks and steals.
The 6-foot-6 big man helped out on the court last season alongside rising seniors Cameron Jones, Quinn Taylor and Derrick Woods and then-seniors Davauhnte Turner and Samuel Idowu.
Ndefo and guard Dallas Watson are the only rising sophomores that stayed on the team.
A comment from Ndefo and head coach Shaheen Holloway was not immediately available.
